Character tests

Which Harry Potter Character Are You? | Quiz

The wizarding world is full of spells and enchantments, but what stays with you long after you close the book are the characters themselves. Each one embodies a particular way of moving through the world: the resolve of someone who refuses to look away when something is wrong, the restless mind that must understand everything, the steadfast loyalty that holds through every storm, the quiet strangeness that never asks permission to be itself. That's why the question of which character you most resemble has such a pull on everyone who grew up with the series.

This quiz doesn't measure how much you know about magic or which house you'd be sorted into. What it tracks are your traits: how you make decisions, what moves you, how you treat people when no one is watching, and what you do when something frightens you. Your answers are matched against eight well-known characters to find your closest fit. No character here is better than another — a reluctant hero and a calm mentor each shine in their own moment, just at different times.

Answer all sixteen questions honestly, thinking about who you actually are rather than who you'd like to get. When you're done, you'll see your character, a description of what the result says about your personality, and the traits you share. If two options seem equally true, go with whichever feels like your first instinct — that one tends to be the most candid.

How this character test works

The quiz works by character affinity: each answer you choose adds points to one or two characters based on the trait it reflects — bravery, wit, loyalty, eccentricity, guardedness, wisdom, or warmth. The questions are balanced across all eight characters, so every result is reachable and no one starts with an advantage. At the end, all points are totalled and your result is the character with the highest score. If two land very close together, it means you carry traits from both — which is common, since very few people fit neatly inside a single character.

Characters you can get

Harry Potter

If you got Harry, you have a strong sense of right and wrong and a habit of stepping up when it matters. You don't seek the spotlight, but when something is unjust you find it almost impossible to look away — even when acting makes your life harder. Your loyalty to the people you care about runs deep, and your courage sharpens whenever someone you love needs protecting. You take on more than your share and sometimes pull back so as not to worry others. Your impulse is a genuinely good one, though it's worth remembering that asking for help is part of the same strength you already have.

Hermione Granger

If you got Hermione, you have a quick, driven mind that needs to fully understand things before it can settle. You prepare, you research, and you're rarely caught off guard because you've done the work that others skip. You defend your beliefs with evidence and a sense of justice you won't compromise, even when it puts you at odds with the majority. Behind that image of the model student lives someone genuinely brave and loyal, capable of breaking any rule for the people who matter. Your precision is your signature, but your heart carries just as much weight as your intellect.

Ron Weasley

If you got Ron, you're the friend who holds the group together without asking for any credit. You're grounded, you have a dry sense of humour, and your loyalty shows most clearly in the hard moments rather than the easy ones. You don't always believe in yourself as much as you should, and sometimes the shadow of those around you weighs on you — but when the situation demands it, you step forward. Your instinct for strategy and your ability to read people are worth far more than you give yourself credit for. You're proof that steady, faithful friendship is its own kind of courage.

Luna Lovegood

If you got Luna, you're someone who is quietly, serenely different and has no need to fit in to feel at ease. You see the world from your own angle, say what you think with a disarming calm, and let mockery pass without flinching — because you know exactly who you are. That quiet authenticity draws people who can see it for what it is, and it takes more courage than it looks. You are kind without conditions, loyal without drama, and able to say the one thing that actually helps when no one else knows what to offer. Your strangeness isn't a rough edge to be sanded down — it's the best thing about you.

Neville Longbottom

If you got Neville, you're someone who grows slowly and travels far. You may have started out feeling clumsy or overlooked, but inside you there's a determination that surfaces when it counts. You don't go looking for confrontation, which is exactly why your bravery surprises people when it appears: once you've made up your mind to stand your ground, nothing shifts you. You're tender with the things you care for, faithful to your friends, and faithful to your principles even when it leaves you alone against everyone else. Your story is about discovering that courage isn't inherited — it's chosen.

Severus Snape

If you got Snape, you're a guarded and intense person who holds far more inside than you let on. You keep your reactions in check, you choose your words carefully, and you allow very few people past your walls — but those who do get there find an unwavering loyalty. You have a gift for work that demands precision and patience, and a long memory for both debts and wrongs. You don't aim to be liked; you'd rather be fair on your own terms, even when that gets misread. Beneath the coldness there's a quiet dedication that only makes full sense when you see the whole picture.

Albus Dumbledore

If you got Dumbledore, you're someone who sees past the immediate moment and thinks in longer consequences. You have a calmness that steadies the people around you and a wisdom built from both triumphs and mistakes you've never tried to hide. You prefer to guide rather than direct, to let people find their own way, and to trust them even when it's risky. You understand that the important decisions are rarely the easy ones and that power comes with a weight that deserves respect. Your composure and your faith in the best of people make you the one others turn to when they don't know where else to go.

Rubeus Hagrid

If you got Hagrid, you are all heart. Your emotional capacity is enormous: you love fiercely, you feel things openly, and you defend the people who are yours with everything you've got. You have a soft spot for what others fear or dismiss, because you can see worth where everyone else only sees danger. You're generous, noble, and loyal beyond any reasonable doubt — though sometimes your good faith leads you to trust more than you should. You wouldn't call yourself brave, but you don't hesitate when someone you love is in trouble. The warmth you carry leaves a mark on everyone who crosses your path.

Frequently asked questions about the character test

How many questions does the Harry Potter character quiz have?

The quiz has sixteen short multiple-choice questions. Each one explores a different trait — such as bravery, wit, or loyalty — and takes only a few minutes to complete. The more honest you are with your answers, the more accurately the result reflects who you are.

How is my result determined?

Each answer you choose adds points to one or two characters based on the trait it reflects. Once you've answered everything, the points are tallied and your result is the character with the highest score. The questions are spread evenly so that all eight characters are reachable and none of them starts with an advantage.

Which characters can I get as a result?

You can get Harry, Hermione, Ron, Luna, Neville, Snape, Dumbledore, or Hagrid. These eight well-known and quite different figures were chosen to cover a range of traits — from courage and wisdom to loyalty, eccentricity, and warmth.

Is this the same as a Hogwarts House quiz?

No. A Hogwarts House quiz assigns you to one of the four school houses based on your values. This quiz focuses on specific characters and how they think and act, so it measures more nuanced traits. You can take both and compare — they reveal different things about you.

Will my result change if I take the quiz again?

It might shift slightly if you answer differently, since the result is based on how you describe yourself in that moment. When you answer honestly, the outcome tends to be consistent. Small differences between attempts usually mean you share traits with two similar characters.

Is this an official quiz?

No. This is a fan-made personality quiz created for entertainment, with no connection to the series' authors or any official brand. Its only aim is to be fun and offer a lighthearted portrait of your personality through the lens of its characters.
